WHATCAR? Test Drive Review 01/13/2011
Nissan Qashqai Crossover Review
The Qashqai makes a brilliant family car because it's roomy, comfortable, refined and affordable to run. The king-of-the-road driving position is another plus point, and standard equipment is good.
Performance 3 out of 5
The entry-level 1.6-litre petrol engine develops 113bhp and the 1.5-litre diesel 104bhp. Both need to be worked quite hard, but they're up to the job. If you want a bit more punch there's also a 138bhp 2.0-litre petrol and 148bhp 2.0-litre diesel. Four-wheel drive is an option with these. The 2.0-litre petrol can be combined with a CVT auto gearbox and the four-wheel drive 2.0-litre diesel a six-speed auto.
Ride & Handling 4 out of 5
The Qashqai has chunky tyres and supple suspension, so it floats serenely over poor surfaces at any speed. The downside of this bias towards comfort – and of the lofty stance – is that there's quite a lot of body lean through bends, although the Qashqai doesn't feel untidy because the lean is progressive and the steering weighty and direct.

AUTOCAR 1.6 Stop-Start Test Drive Review 03/14/2011
Nissan Qashqai 1.6 stop-start review
What is it?
Nissan’s popular British-built Qashqai crossover received a makeover in early 2010 with subtly refreshed styling, interior quality upgrades and under-the-skin changes to boost ride quality and reduce interior noise.
This was followed up later in the year with tweaks to the engine range. So this is our first chance to test the newly Euro5-compliant 1.6-litre petrol engine, which gets a small 2bhp boost to 115bhp and a similar rise in torque to 117lb ft. And the addition of stop-start, the first Nissan to benefit from the technology, drops CO2 emissions from 144g/km to 139g/km.
What is it like?
The Qashqai is Nissan’s biggest seller in the UK, and it’s easy to see why. We noted in our earlier test of the chassis and interior upgrades that the Qashqai is a comfortable, refined and accomplished performer, with an airy cabin and an excellent driving position. None of these traits are lost in this round of engine upgrades.

WHATCAR? 1.6 dCi Test Drive Review 11/03/2011
1.6dCi Test Drive Review
What is it? It’s a new diesel version of the Nissan Qashqai, the car that started the crossover craze.
Nissan already offers two diesels – a 104bhp 1.5-litre and a 148bhp 2.0 – and this new 128bhp 1.6 dCi sits neatly beat the two on power and price. Crucially, though, it’s more efficient than both, and two-wheel-drive versions built between now and the new year will emit 129g/km of CO2 and average 57.6mpg.
From January, things get even better, because a stop-start system will be fitted as standard, dropping emissions to just 119g/km and making the Qashqai a far more attractive company car in the process.

AUTO EXPRESS 1.6 dCi Test Drive Review 11/21/2011
Nissan Qashqai 1.6 dCi . The big-selling Nissan Qashqai gets an all-new efficient 1.6-litre diesel engine and extra gadgets
More than a million Nissan Qashqai models have been sold worldwide since its launch in 2007 and Nissan is hoping to continue that success with a few subtle updates – including the introduction of the world's most powerful 1.6-litre diesel engine to the range.
The new diesel unit effectively replaces the old 2.0-litre dCi – although that still remains to power the automatic four-wheel-drive Qashqai – and boasts 128bhp as well as a torque figure of 320Nm which is exactly the same as the larger diesel. More impressive is the 62.8mpg fuel economy figure in the 2WD manual model driven here which represents a 31 per cent improvement over the 2.0-litre dCi. CO2 emissions are also down from 155g/km to 119g/km.

PARKERS Test Drive Review 11/14/2011
Nissan Qashqai - order now or wait?
Next year there will be a new version of the Nissan Qashqai Tekna we tested last week. The addition of stop/start means it’ll emit less CO2, but as a company car driver is it worth waiting for? We’re going to crunch the numbers to find out.
To work out the difference, first we need to work out how much company car tax you pay on the original car.
So, the first thing you need to know is the P11d value. This is the RRP of the car minus first registration fee and road tax. It does include VAT, delivery and all optional extras. For the Qashqai the basic P11d price is £24,040, and we've got no options so that’s the value we’ll use.

WHATCAR? Overall Winner: Nissan Qashqai 01/20/2012
Overall Winner: Nissan Qashqai 1.6 Visia
The Qashqai is the used car you should look at before anything else. It was designed to spice up the small family car market, but instead kick-started the crossover craze. Nearly four years later it still feels fresh, and with so many available on the used market, it's a steal.
Our judges raved about the Qashqai's looks, price and abilities. It's good to drive, practical and comfortable, so suits families perfectly. Add the five-star Euro NCAP crash test rating and Isofix mounting points as standard, and it's easy to see why it walked away with the title Used Car of the Year 2011.
